Teaching Awards

Distinguished Service Teaching Awards

Each fall, medical students honor selected teaching faculty from the previous academic year at the annual Distinguished Service Teaching Awards Ceremony. This annual awards ceremony is the principal mechanism for students to acknowledge school-wide the many outstanding contributions that WUSM faculty members make on behalf of medical student education.

The date for this fall's ceremony will be announced soon. All faculty, medical students, and medical school administration will be invited to attend.

Samuel R. Goldstein Leadership Awards in Medical Student Education

These awards were established in 2000 by a gift from Mr. Samuel R. Goldstein, a long-time friend of the School of Medicine. His gift allowed for the creation of three annual awards of $5,000 each to acknowledge faculty leadership in medical student education and the tradition and responsibility our teaching faculty demonstrate in training the best and brightest medical students to become physicians who practice medicine of the highest quality. The Goldstein Leadership Awards continue to be among the highest form of faculty recognition.

All Medical School faculty members who are involved in teaching medical students, including instructors in Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences courses designed for MSTP students, are eligible for nomination. Faculty members may be nominated by other faculty, or by medical students or MSTP students.

Individuals wishing to nominate a faculty member for a Goldstein Leadership Award should contact Celeste Witzel via email at: witzelc@msnotes.wustl.edu.
